French for adults
Our students comment on the quality and friendliness of our teaching. One of the distinctive features of our approach is that French is spoken all the time from the outset. This need not be daunting! Our experienced French teachers know how to build up the language step-by-step.
Business French
Our teachers have many years of experience of teaching in-company and we have excellent recommendations from companies and individuals who have benefited in their business dealings with French-speaking countries.
Through our experience of teaching French to graduate students of the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University, we are the natural place to come for professional and vocational French.
Family classes!
The Alliance Française offers courses for the whole family. If you are more comfortable learning with people close to you, this class is for you. You can come at the Alliance or a teacher could come directly at your house.

Small-group teaching
Our classes are small groups, often having on average of ten or eleven people in a class. We try hard to put each person into a class that is both suitable in terms of language level and congenial in terms of fellow students. If you make really good progress you can always move up a level within the same year.

Quality and flexibility
Our quality is consistently high and we offer a flexible service.
One-to-One
Our one-to-one teaching is a very popular part of the Alliance's work. One-to-one teaching can be combined with group classes if, for instance, you want to make rapid progress initially. Having reached a threshold level you can then transfer to a small-group class. This "mix and match" is another distinctive feature of what we offer.
Immersion classes
If you need to learn French fast there's no better way than to take an immersion course. We can offer a number of options to suit your needs.
For example, you could take a total immersion class which means you would have morning and afternoon sessions together with all meals with your tutor. You could also opt to have a different tutor on different days so that you are exposed to different voices and accents.
