The Board of the Alliance Française Cambridge-Norwich-East Anglia is recruiting two new Board members in 2024. The Alliance
Française Cambridge-Norwich-East-Anglia is a charity and is part of the Paris Fondation
des Alliances Francaises,
the world's largest language network with over 820 branches in 133 countries and the leading organisation for the teaching of
French and promotion of Francophone cultures. The Alliance Française in Cambridge was created in 1982 and, more recently, a
new branch was also opened in Norwich,
enabling the organisation to serve more communities throughout East Anglia. It is an exciting time to join the organisation.
At present the Board comprises eight members, with backgrounds in secondary and higher education, IT, local
business, consultancy and media. The
Board meets six times a year and is responsible for ensuring good governance in keeping with the organisation's charity status and to
support the Alliance team to deliver on its objectives for the future while staying in good financial health and serving
local communities well.
We will consider all expressions of interest, but we would particularly welcome applications that represent the diversity of the communities that the Alliance Française Cambridge-Norwich-East Anglia serves. We will offer training to people who have not served as a charity trustee before. After a settling-in period, new members would be encouraged to apply their area of expertise to one of the sub-committees that feeds into the Board's work, in areas such as fundraising, marketing, finance or outreach for example
In the first instance, expressions of interest
should be sent to Patricia Dalby,
Director of the Alliance Française.
An initial exploratory conversation with the Chair of the Board will then be organised.
