Pierre Pillet taught languages and ran Modern Languages Faculties in leading academic schools in the UK for 25 years. He also created and ran the UK National French Debating Competition (Joutes oratoires lycéennes). He was made Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques for service to Education, French Language and Culture. An Art lover, he now works in a different field, promoting Polynesian Art as well as some new world wines!
Bernardette Holmes is Director of the National Consortium for Languages Education (NCLE). She has made major contributions to languages education in England through her work as a modern languages advocate, teacher, adviser, inspector, teacher trainer, researcher, curriculum and policy developer and author. She is Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Linguistics, Director of Speak to the Future, and consultant to the DfE for the development of the GCSE in British Sign Language.
Christine Hilcenko has been a Research Associate at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research for the last 20 years, studying
mechanisms of ribosome assembly. She is also the Founder and Chairman of the Raymond Nicolet Trust, a UK registered charity supportintg
education and childhood in Serbia.
Sura Qadiri is Assistant Professor of French at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. She has a special interest in contemporary French literature that addresses social diversity, and in francophone literature from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
